A Tavola!

A Tavola! is a project created in collaboration with the French artist Sabatina Leccia, developed within a condominium in the suburbs of Paris (18th arrondissement), produced by the Cultural Association Art-Exprime within the Festival “Art en Espace Public” .

All around a large table, built as an embroidery frame, the inhabitants of the building, adults and children, sat together for a big “lunch”. The food, instead of eaten, was drawn and embroidered on a large white tablecloth. Through the sewing, the tablecloth was filled with their favorite dishes, with the stories that the food tell us, with the memories of traditional recipes, with the countries of which the food speaks to us. With a slow and patient rhythm, marked by embroidery, the relations between the neighbors were re-stitched.

A Tavola! È un progetto nato in collaborazione con l’artista francese Sabatina Leccia, sviluppato all’interno di un condominio nella periferia di Parigi (18°arrondissement), prodotto dall’Associazione Culturale Art-Exprime all’interno del Festival “Art en Espace Pubblic”.

Intorno a una grande tavola, costruita come un telaio da ricamo, gli abitanti del condominio, adulti e bambini, si sono seduti insieme per un grande “pranzo” in cui il cibo, invece che mangiato, è stato disegnato e ricamato su una grande tovaglia bianca. Attraverso il cucito, la tovaglia si è riempita dei piatti preferiti dai partecipanti, delle storie che il cibo racconta, delle memorie delle ricette tradizionali, dei paesi di cui il cibo ci parla. Con un ritmo lento e paziente, scandito dal ricamo, le relazioni tra i vicini sono state ri-cucite.
